FAQs

Trying to conceive?
Prolon has not been specifically evaluated for its impact on fertility or conception. While we do not have dedicated research on Prolon in relation to conception, it's important to note that improving cardiometabolic health can positively influence fertility. Prolon has been shown to support various metrics of cardiometabolic health, including weight loss, insulin sensitivity, healthy blood pressure and healthy cholesterol, among others. Some healthcare providers, including certain obstetricians and gynecologists (OBGYNs), may recommend incorporating Prolon as part of pre-conception health optimization. We advise consulting with your OBGYN before considering Prolon... Read more...
Why are enemas and colon cleanses not recommended during the program?
There have not been any documented benefits of doing a colon cleanse during a fast and, in fact, colon cleanses have been demonstrated to increase the loss of electrolytes and potentially increase the risk of dehydration, which may be unsafe, and may negatively alter the outcomes from the ProLon program. What if I get a headache? Can I take acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and/or aspirin?
Headaches can be from reduced caffeine intake during the ProLon program. To prevent this, we suggest slowly reducing your caffeine beginning a few days before you start your ProLon. Headaches can also be from the fasting state, thought to be related to ketones being used as a fuel source, and they typically diminish with repeated ProLon cycles. People can also get headaches from fasting if they are not drinking enough fluids, so if you develop a headache, please make sure you are well-hydrated. If drinking some extra fluids does not... Should routine intake of dietary supplements and prescribed medications be stopped during the ProLon dietary program?
You should not stop taking any prescription medications, and should not stop using any over the counter (OTC) medications or supplements your healthcare provider has told you to use without discussing it with them first. For this reason, if you regularly take medications or supplements, please consult with your healthcare provider before starting ProLon. Our clinical studies have not included additional ingredients such as medications, and we are still learning what affect prescribed and over-the-counter medications may have on the program. If you take OTC medications or supplements without the... Read more...

We have not directly studied the use of stool softeners, laxatives, or pro-motility agents with ProLon. ProLon appears to affect each person a bit differently. Most people will not experience any significant or lasting changes in their bowel habits during or after ProLon. Indeed, no big changes in bowel habits were observed during clinical trials. However, any substantial change in eating habits or diet can result in changes in frequency, consistency and/or timing of bowel movements, so some variation is to be expected. If you’re concerned about changes in your bowel habits during ProLon, please discuss it with your healthcare provider. Read more...
