Do not donate blood during or for 2-3 weeks after completing after ProLon. If you have specific questions, please discuss them with your healthcare provider. ProLon and medical procedures including surgery and acupuncture.
We do not have any evidence on the effect ProLon can have on the body either pre- or post-surgery of any kind, including cataracts, Lasik, or other surgeries. It is a good general guideline to wait at least 10 days after completing ProLon before undergoing any medical procedure, but please seek the advice of your healthcare provider to determine what you should or should not do prior to surgery. Regarding the use of ProLon after surgery, you will need to ensure you have adequate healing before your fast. In addition,... Read more...
Can I get a massage while using ProLon?
ProLon was not tested with massage, so we cannot say for certain what the impact will be.  While some individuals may tolerate gentle massage, we encourage you to avoid intense massage as it may be too strenuous during a prolonged fast.  One important aspect of the diet in general is hydration, and this is especially important after massages, so if you do elect to get a massage during ProLon, please make sure you adequately hydrate afterward Read more...
If I have a health condition, can I still do ProLon®?
Although fasting for short periods is safe for most generally healthy people, you should talk to your healthcare provider before beginning any diet or diet program to ensure it is safe and right for you. As stated in the Healthy Start Commitment, anyone with a pre-existing condition or taking any prescription medications should consult with a healthcare professional before fasting.  Do not fast or use any products for fasting purposes if: You have a fever, cough, diarrhea, signs of an active infection, or are at risk for recurrent infection You are... What is the difference between the definitions of common fasting, physiologic, and molecular (cellular) fasting?
Common Definition: Abstinence from all or some kinds of food and drink. Physiologic Definition: The switch from burning glucose for energy to burning fatty acids and ketones as a main source of fuel. Molecular (Cellular) Definition: The state in which nutrient sensing pathways are inactive or down-regulated. ProLon fasting mimicking diet causes you to enter both a physiologic and molecular fasting state. It doesn’t trigger nutrient sensing pathways, meeting the molecular definition of fasting. It also triggers the switch from burning glucose for energy to burning fatty acids and ketones as... Read more...
Planning vaccines (like flu shot) around ProLon.
For vaccines scheduled in advance, one should not use ProLon in the week prior to the vaccine. For vaccines that are not planned in advance, if the opportunity to receive a vaccine comes up while you happen to be on ProLon, you should stop the ProLon, resume your normal diet, and take the vaccine so as not to delay potentially life-saving vaccination. Similarly, for medical procedures which are unplanned, one should not delay medical procedures because of ProLon, but rather should stop the ProLon in order to avoid any delay... Read more...
What types of blood tests can be done to measure metabolic health?
If you’re only planning to do one cycle of ProLon, you will likely feel (and be able to measure) many of the benefits we advocate such as losing weight while on the fast, improving your relationship with food, feeling more in control of your health, increased focus and clarity, increased energy, and much more. But you may or may not experience a significant change in other metabolic measures, and we don’t have any published data on the impact on them using only a single cycle of ProLon. Participants in our... Read more...

Should I restrict calories or "prepare my body" before starting ProLon®?
You don't need to make any long-term, major lifestyle changes before starting the program, which is one of the reasons why it's so popular. Published clinical trials did not include any specific preparatory routines prior to participants starting ProLon. However, to help with your transition, in the days leading up to using ProLon, we suggest you be mindful of your portions and avoid overeating, eat nutritious foods, increase your intake of plant-based foods and of vegetables, avoid processed and sugary foods, and cut down on your caffeine as much as possible. Adding/Additions to the program:
During your ProLon 5-days, we strongly recommend that you “stick to the box” to achieve the same cellular benefits that were demonstrated during our clinical trials. The rigorous testing of ProLon was demonstrated by following our kits as is, and therefore, it is always better to stick to what’s in the box.  Here are some tips to help your palate tolerate the items a little easier: Soup and olives may be blended/pureed together Crackers (all or just few of them) may be crumbled into soups L-Bar may be refrigerated and consumed cold L-Bar...
